But does it therefore follow that the plumber or the sewage technician should only be slump-shouldered drudges and never write epic poems about their heroic struggles with the monstrous turds of their community?

Could they not also be trusted to schedule their own work and maybe slot in some time for poetry slams and ballad contests all the while stained with the traces of their trade?

It doesn’t follow by strict logic. But if the plumber is overly preoccupied with his poems, things could get a little backed up. I’m reasonable enough to grant that some sewer techs might have the time and talent for the occasional epic tale on the side (so to speak). There’s a delicate balance, too much encouragement of the wrong sort can tip it over
